Biography
Born in 1949 in Pennsylvania, I lived briefly in Arizona and subsequently grew up in Michigan. After
graduating form Michigan State University, I moved our family to Southern California, where we currently
live. I have studied Fine Art with an emphasis on photography and other two-dimensional medium, with
undergraduate studies at various colleges, as well as private photographic workshops. I have a degree
in engineering and masters in business administration.
I became more involved with photography as a serious form of self-expression in the mid-1970’s, when I
took a pivotal photographic fine print workshop with Don Huntsman. Although I have worked with other
two-dimensional mediums, primarily with watercolor and acrylic, I have made my primary artistic
development and expression with photography.
I have chosen to keep his artistic work separate from my business career, and currently I am the co-
founder of an international known LifeScience consulting company.

Personal Statement
When I photograph and create images, I try to understand my emotional response and eventually try to
translate that feeling into a photographic print. Sometimes I feel as thought there is a little magical
moment when I have created that final image.
I do not try to faithfully create images of what was in front of my lens in order to provide an exact
rendering of what existed. I use the urban and natural landscape as the beginning point of my artistic
vision to try to better understand my own internal landscape. I continue to re-visit some areas over and
over again, to further discover, then record and finally create compelling photographic images.
I use my photography to explore our world, to create images that resonate within me and that I hope are
seen as poetic metaphors.
Recently I have been attempting to create a series of images around ideas and concepts in unified
themes that will hopefully provide a greater understanding of what I am trying to suggest.
